North Brisbane Massage

Massage is one of the oldest healing arts known to man. In a professional sense, massage is recognised as the as the systematic and scientific manipulation of the soft tissue of the body. In a practical sense, massage is a healthful way to help relieve stress, ease muscle tension and promote relaxation.

There are many different techniques that are all regarded as ‘therapeutic’ as they bring about some form of change for the better. We offer a variety of therapeutic massage styles to suit your individual needs and ensure that you get the most benefit from your treatment, including:

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is often regarded as the most common form of massage in Western society, and is based around anatomy and physiology rather than the Eastern practices of energy work. Our massage therapist will start by asking if you are after a relaxation/restorative massage or more of a focus on particular areas of the body – e.g. shoulders, neck, lower back. You will also be asked if you have any injuries or areas that are particularly sore or sensitive to touch.

Depending on your requirements, your therapist will apply differing levels of pressure to achieve the best experience for you. We want you to feel that your massage is hitting the spot, so please let us know if you prefer a lighter or firmer touch.

We generally ask you to undress down to your underwear if you are having both your upper and lower body areas worked on, and use towels to uncover the area of the body being massaged at any particular time.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is based on the premise “to remedy”, and is focused on the delivery of massage strokes to a specific area/s of the body with differing length and pressure.

Your massage therapist will focus on areas of tension that you have helped to identify through your initial discussions, and will also discover areas in need of attention throughout the session.

Sports Massage

Differing from Remedial Massage, a Sports Massage is more tailored to an individual’s sports activity and overall program, and will involve massage techniques that aid in the preparation of the body for events as well as in the recovery process.

A classic example would be athletes preparing for/recovering from a marathon running event, team sport activity, rowing, tennis or golf.

Every pregnant woman can benefit from a massage at a time when her centre of gravity is changing rapidly, placing increasing pressure on the pelvis and lower back regions. We use special pillows to accommodate the growing belly, and also apply techniques that allow you to lie on your side during your massage.
